In Memoriam

About

Over the course of the last couple of years, we have lost some notable participants in the GTA Celebrity Golf Classic.  They will be missed and we hope that we carry on their legacies well.

Dr. Paul A. Stoot, Sr. at the 2016 GTA Celebrity Golf Classic

Lee Elder

Lee Elder was not only a pioneer in the game of golf, but he was an inspiration to so many young men and women of color not only through his play, but also through his commitment to education and community.  In 1975, Elder became the first African American to play in the Masters.  Lee will always be a part of the history of the GTA Celebrity Golf Classic. His presence will be sorely missed, but his legacy will continue to be celebrated.

NEsby Glasgow

Nesby played in nearly every GTA Celebrity Golf Classic ever held.  His passing in February 2020 from stomach cancer is a loss that we still feel.  His infectious smile and big laugh will be sorely missed.
